First, the thing that changes everything else on this page

This is a demonstration website. Woodside Translation is not a real translation company, nobody answers the telephone number on it, and nothing sent through it is read by anybody. If you have a document or a deadline, instruct a real translation company rather than typing anything here.

What the site collects, which is one form

There is exactly one form on this site. It is at the end of the estimator, it is the only thing here that posts anywhere, and it is entirely optional — the estimate itself is worked out in your own browser and nothing leaves it until you press send.

If you do press send, the fields that go to the server are the ones you filled in: a name, an e-mail address, and optionally a company, a telephone number and a note. Alongside them go the answers you gave the estimator and the figure it produced. The server also records the time and the network address the request came from.

Nothing on this site asks you to upload a document, and there is nowhere here to attach one.

What happens to it

Three things, in this order. It is written as one line in a log file on the server. Then a message goes to the office. Then, only if you ticked the box asking for one, a copy of the same estimate goes to the address you gave.

The log line is written before either message is sent, deliberately: a request that arrived and was lost because a mail server was slow is the failure that leaves no trace anywhere. And because this is a demonstration, nobody reads the log and nobody reads the messages.

Cookies, analytics and what your browser keeps

This site sets no cookies. There is no analytics script, no advertising tag and no third-party code of any kind on any page — the only scripts here are the ones this site ships, and they load from this domain.

The estimator does keep your answers in your own browser's local storage, so that reloading the page or coming back to it does not throw away four minutes of typing. That never leaves your device, it is cleared when the estimate is sent or when you start again, and clearing your browser's site data removes it.

To limit automated submissions the server also keeps a short list of timestamps against the network address a request came from. That is not shared with anybody and it is not used for anything else.

Asking for it to be deleted

On a real site this is where you would be told how. On this one the honest answer is that the log holds whatever a visitor typed into a demonstration, nobody reads it, and the only sensible advice is not to type anything real into it in the first place.

The policy that would apply if this office were real is on the policies page: the source, the translation and the certificate are kept so that a further copy later costs a copy rather than a job, deletion is done on request and confirmed with a date, and payment details are not kept.
